Entities and roles

Claims and evidence

  1. factdocumented

DNB said the relocation largely used sales of approximately 59 tonnes in New York and purchases in London; more than 27 tonnes were physically moved via Zeist. It was neither a withdrawal of all Dutch gold from the United States nor entirely a physical shipment to London.

  2. factdocumented

DNB announced on September 2, 2026 that approximately 86 tonnes were reallocated from its combined New York and Ottawa holdings to London between March and August. It cited liquidity, risk diversification and geopolitical unrest. New York's share fell from 31.3% to 18.5%; Ottawa also retained 18.5%.

  3. factdocumented

In a March 21, 2026 interview, Bundesbank board member Burkhard Balz said roughly 37% of Germany's gold remained in New York and that he saw no indication those reserves were unsafe, while acknowledging political pressure on the Federal Reserve.

  4. factdocumented

Germany's separate storage plan, announced in 2013, moved 300 tonnes from New York by 2016 and 374 tonnes from Paris by 2017. The Bundesbank's August 2017 completion notice still listed 36.6% of its gold in New York. These New York transfers preceded Trump's first presidency.
