Court voids the renaming, restores trustee voting rights and halts the first closure plan
Reporting and findings
- documented
The district court held that the board lacked authority to rename the congressionally designated memorial, ruled that its bylaw change stripping ex officio trustees of voting rights was unlawful, and preliminarily enjoined the March closure decision because the board appeared to have abused its discretion. The opinion did not hold that the Center could never close for renovation.
