Board declares a unanimous Trump renaming after dissent is muted
Reporting and findings
- documented
Renaming was absent from the December 18 meeting agenda. Representative Joyce Beatty tried to object remotely and was involuntarily muted. The court record says it is undisputed that the board held no discussion of risks or consequences and shows no legal advice on the statutory restrictions before the board declared the result unanimous. The parties agreed that the speed of installation showed the exterior signage had been prepared or purchased before the vote. Congress had named the Center for John F. Kennedy by statute; the board obtained no new act of Congress.
