The Eleventh Circuit affirmed denial of Meadows' attempt to remove the Georgia election case to federal court. It held that the statute did not cover former federal officers and, independently, that alleged campaign activity to change certified election results was outside the chief of staff's official duties. The ruling decided forum and official-duty questions, not guilt on the state counts.
